J&R Schugel – October 2025
Interstate Personnel Services, Inc. (IPS) announced the acquisition of J&R Schugel. The employee owners of both IPS and J&R Schugel have voted overwhelmingly in favor of JRS joining the IPS transportation family.
J&R Schugel is based in New Ulm, MN and was founded in 1974 by Jerry & Rich Schugel. It remained family-owned and operated until 2014, when the company became a 100% employee-owned company.
Together, IPS and it transportation companies will operate nearly 2,000 tractors and 6,000 trailers in its asset-based operations, focusing on dry van and refrigerated services in the U.S. and Mexico. Their combined logistics capabilities will also grow through the integration of Paschall Logistics and J&R Schugel Logistics.

There are over 1100 company trucks in our fleet bolstered by additional power-units from our brokerage when needed. Our trucks are equipped with a variety of safety systems to ensure the safety of our Drivers, your freight, and everyone else on the road.
We have over 3000 trailers located at key points around our operating region to ensure assets are available when you need them. We also have a trailer replenishment program in place where we continually cycle out older trailers for new trailers each year.
Our fleet is equipped with on board telematics to help meet your priorities as a customer: up-to-date location tracking and bearing of your freight, integration with our operations systems to ensure your freight is delivered on time, and a variety of safety systems to ensure your freight arrives safely and securely.
